Misogynistic dating rules written by Young Turks creator Cenk Uygur resurface after he announces congressional bid
(This is an old piece that isn’t timely anymore, I forgot to post it after being rejected by a few outlets)
Immediately after the infamously annoying leftist Cenk Uygur announced he would be running to replace the disgraced Katie Hill in California’s 25th congressional district his disgusting “rules for women” surfaced online. All of the rules are explicitly sexual which makes his bid to replace Hill, who left office due to alleged sexual misconduct, not only tragically ironic but another PR disaster for the Democratic Party.
CNN’s Brian Stelter thought he was doing the Democratic Party and Uygur a big favor by tweeting out that the notorious founder of The Young Turks was officially running for Congress. But Peter Hasson, of the Daily Caller one of the architects of Representative Katie Hill’s demise, was on it immediately. He began his takedown of Uygur by claiming that “Cenk is an oppo researcher’s dream” and then backed it up with a massive truth bomb. “Democratic Congressional Candidate Cenk Uygur on his rules for women:
There are some hard and fast rules of dating. Women, ignore these at your peril.
Rule 1: There must be some serious making out by the third date.
If I haven’t felt your tits by then, things are not about to last much longer. In fact, if you don’t get back on track by the fourth date, you’re done.
Rule 2: There must be orgasm by the fifth date.
No, ands, ifs, or buts.”
And it just gets worse from there. All the rules deal explicitly with sex speaking to a deeply disturbed psyche that clearly views women as objects. Katie Hill left office right at the beginning of November when allegations of sexual misconduct and nude photos of her surfaced online. This makes the airing of Uygur’s dirty laundry almost comically absurd.
Uygur, and the entire left, has continually attacked the Trump administration for it’s sexual improprieties no matter how old or how similar these peccadilloes are to things that happen on the left all the time. From the salacious allegations concerning Stormy Daniels to the revolting “locker room talk” caught on the Access Hollywood tape the anti Trump crowd has incessantly harped on the US President as a misogynist.
But the #metoo phenomenon was almost entirely a product of the Left, both the whistleblowers and the perpetrators. Right wing #metoo incidents were by far the exception, which is why the Brett Kavanaugh debacle became such an outlandish farce. It was important to the Democratic Party that they finally catch a Republican with their virulent # campaign. The hypocrisy should have been obvious from the beginning but things like Uygur’s rules just keep confirming the sexual degeneracy of the contemporary Democratic Party.
But what really takes this from every day political hypocrisy to outrageously dumb is that this isn’t even the first time this has been an issue for Uygur. The DNC forced him to apologize for these comments back in 2017:
“If you read that today, what I wrote 18 years ago, and you’re offended by it, you’re 100 percent right. And anyone who is subjected to that material, I apologize to. And I deeply regret having written that stuff when I was a different guy.”
But this apology solves nothing for two reasons. The first is that the left never accepts an apology from the right no matter how much time has passed, which is one reason so many Republicans have warmed to Trump’s apathetic approach to leftist outrage. And the second reason is that Uygur has expressed extremely anti-woke sentiments about women much more recently than that. In 2013 he tweeted objectifying comments about the women in Miami. But more importantly Uygur is part of a left wing Media establishment that constantly calls their opponents misogynists, for literally everything. Even innocent traditionalist behavior like US Vice President Mike Pence’s rule that he won’t ever be alone with a woman when his wife isn’t present gets called sexism. But Uygur has a provable history of sexually offensive comments and yet the DNC still thought it would be a good idea for him to run for Congress? This is so silly it sounds like a sketch on SNL.
These political machinations aren’t just hypocritical, hypocrisy is a normal and distasteful part of politics and always has been, they’re representative of something much more disturbing. A DNC that thinks they can blather on and on about right wing sexual impropriety while avoiding a mea culpa of their own and putting forward toxic candidates like Uygur is completely out of touch. When a political engine loses the ability to honestly look in the mirror it has passed beyond the pale into utter hopelessness. The political choices for Americans these days are pathetic. It’s time we had some new ones.
